Our research

Our research

The Department's research activities are focused in seven main thematic areas:  High performance embedded systems  Biomedical  Defence and security  Energy systems  Intelligent and autonomous systems  MEMS, sensors, and devices  Big data

Research is organised across five broad groups. Each group collaborates widely with partners in industry and other research institutions, and each is supported by a range of funding sources.

BROADER VISIONS – ENHANCE YOUR DEGREE WITH BUSINESS MODULES OR OVERSEAS STUDY

You can choose to take the MEng degree with a substantial management and business component (Electrical & Electronic Engineering), or to spend your fourth year at an overseas university (both degree courses). These programmes are as demanding as the standard MEng courses, and include the same project work, but enable you to add wider skills, knowledge and experience to complement your technical education. ENGINEER YOUR DEGREE PROGRAMME - DESIGN YOUR COURSE TO SUIT YOUR Pages :6 SKILLS AND INTERESTS Because we are active in such a broad variety of research, we offer an extensive range of advanced modules which allow you to build your degree around your interests in your third and fourth years. You to take a wide-ranging programme of study, or to concentrate in a particular field. Our specialist modules are always evolving to take advantage of new technologies and developments in research, with the result that fourth year students can choose from well over 40 advanced options such as human-centred robotics, speech processing and sustainable energy.
